Americans for Prosperity Foundation Launches Education Campaign Highlighting Early Progress from Insurance Reforms

This week, Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFPF) announced the launch of a statewide mail and digital education campaign aimed at helping Floridians understand improvements in the state’s insurance market following recent reforms.

The mail and digital materials explain how measures adopted in recent years, such as curbing excessive litigation, eliminating one-way attorney fees, and strengthening consumer protections, are helping create a healthier, more competitive marketplace for families, homeowners, and small businesses.

“Florida’s property insurance crisis called for meaningful reforms,” said Skylar Zander, State Director for Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Florida.

“We are now seeing that the market has stabilized. Newer insurers are writing property insurance policies in the state, and litigation costs are declining. We are even seeing many Florida homeowners receiving rate decreases to their premiums, helping to ease costs and bring some financial relief to Florida families,” said Zander.

In their ads, AFPF says In the years leading up to these reforms, Florida’s insurance system was strained by rising litigation costs, insurers exiting the state, and sharply increasing premiums for families. When disaster struck, insurers stopped writing policies in the state, and rates skyrocketed.

State leaders responded by enacting strong reforms designed to stabilize the system, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve long-term affordability.

Americans for Prosperity Foundation said there is a new educational campaign

highlights how these reforms are beginning to work in practice.

The Foundation said the plans to continue educating Floridians on how reforms aimed at reducing premium costs for consumers and attracting insurers back to the state are contributing to a more stable and sustainable property insurance market.
