City of Orlando Unveils New Renderings for $400M Camping World Stadium Renovation

ORLANDO, Fla. — The City of Orlando has released new architectural renderings for a major renovation of Camping World Stadium, offering a first look at proposed upgrades designed to modernize the aging venue and boost its competitiveness for hosting major events.

Created by the DLR Group, the designs include the complete reconstruction of the upper seating bowl on the east and west sides, along with a newly added upper bowl section on the north end. The renovations would increase stadium capacity to at least 65,000 and introduce several modern amenities aimed at enhancing the fan experience.

Among the key features proposed in the redesign are:

  • All-new seating throughout the stadium to replace aging infrastructure
  • Hurricane bracing integrated into a modernized exterior design
  • New premium suites and hospitality amenities
  • Comprehensive upgrades to building systems and life safety codes
  • A retractable stage pocket in the south end zone for hosting large-scale concerts

According to DLR Group, the upgrades would transform Camping World Stadium into a “competitive venue capable of hosting the largest events in its class,” potentially including NFL games. City officials have previously floated the idea of accommodating the Jacksonville Jaguars during their temporary relocation in 2027 while the team renovates its home stadium.

The project builds on a $207 million overhaul completed in 2014, when the stadium was still known as the Citrus Bowl. However, questions remain about the current naming rights agreement. It is unclear whether Camping World will retain its title sponsorship following the renovation.

The Orlando Municipal Planning Board is set to review the project at a meeting scheduled for August 19 at 9 a.m. A construction timeline has not yet been announced.

The proposed upgrades come after Orange County commissioners approved $400 million in tourism development tax revenue to fund the stadium’s transformation — part of a broader initiative to attract major entertainment and sporting events to Central Florida.
