Delta Airlines to Get Six Gates at Tampa Airport’s New Terminal

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors has approved a contract to make Delta Air Lines the anchor tenant for Airside D at Tampa International Airport (TPA). This $1.5 billion project, the first new Airside in nearly 20 years, will open in 2028 and feature a 16-gate terminal for international and domestic flights.

Delta is committed to occupying at least six gates and will operate a lounge on the Mezzanine level for up to 20 years.

“Delta has been a key partner at TPA for over 65 years, and we’re excited to extend this partnership to Airside D,” said TPA CEO Joe Lopano. “This agreement will enhance our service for travelers in Tampa Bay.”

Currently, Delta operates from six gates and a Sky Club on Airside E, serving 13 destinations with an average of 36 departures per day. Over the last decade, Delta and its partners have transported nearly 33 million domestic and over 1 million international passengers.

Delta is also expanding its service, having launched nonstop flights from Tampa to Amsterdam in October 2024, with plans to add nonstop service to Austin this year.
