Florida Announces the Highest Tourism Numbers in State History

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Sunshine State set a record 142.9 million visitors in 2024, a 1.6% increase from 2023.

“The results are clear—Florida is the best place to visit, live, and do business,” DeSantis said. “Another record-breaking year is proof that leadership matters, and the Free State of Florida is a model for the nation.”

The fourth quarter set a new high with 33.1 million visitors, including 29.9 million domestic, 2.5 million overseas, and 742,000 from Canada. Despite hurricanes Helene and Milton, Florida’s tourism remained strong. Hotel occupancy rose by 6.7% in Q4, and room nights sold increased by 1.6% for the year. Airports also saw growth, with total enplanements up by 3.1%.

“Under Governor DeSantis’ bold leadership, Florida’s tourism industry remains world-leading,” said Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “Tourism in Florida continued to break records in 2024, recovering from a challenging hurricane season, driving economic growth and improving quality of life for Florida’s communities and families.”
