Florida Congressman to Hold ‘First Significant Fundraiser’ for New House Speaker Mike Johnson

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., announced this week that he will host “the first significant fundraiser” for new U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.

Buchanan said he would host Johnson at a reception in his Longboat Key house, which will include a $25,000 private dinner.

The Florida congressman raised more than $4 million for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) in the last election cycle.

“We look forward to welcoming the new speaker to Southwest Florida as we work to expand the Republican majority in 2024,” said Buchanan.

First elected to Congress in 2006, Buchanan is the vice chairman of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee.
