Florida Launches Online Portal to Report Politically Motivated Violence

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida officials unveiled a new online reporting tool aimed at helping residents flag threats of politically motivated violence.

Florida State Attorney General James Uthmeier and Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas announced the launch of the Combat Violent Extremism Portal during an event at Valencia College. The secure portal allows citizens to submit screenshots, videos, and other evidence of extremist threats directly to the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution. Submissions may be filed anonymously.

“This portal is about making sure Floridians can play a direct role in preventing political violence,” Uthmeier said. “Threats of political violence will not be tolerated in Florida. The idea of someone being assassinated for peacefully opposing radical ideals is vile and anti-American.”

Statewide Prosecutor Brad McVay emphasized that any individual who makes an unlawful threat will be prosecuted. “We look forward to working closely with our law enforcement partners to safeguard the Free State of Florida from political violence,” McVay said.

Commissioner Kamoutsas said the initiative also reinforces accountability in Florida’s schools. “Any educator who makes vile, despicable comments celebrating and encouraging violence in schools will be investigated and held accountable,” he said.

The launch comes amid heightened national concern over politically motivated attacks. Federal data show assaults on federal officers, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, have surged more than 1,000% over the past year. The announcement also follows the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which drew widespread attention after online threats and celebrations of his death circulated on social media.

State leaders said the new portal is part of Florida’s broader effort to prevent violence before it occurs. Officials stressed that the system is not intended for emergencies; residents facing immediate danger should call 911.

The Combat Violent Extremism Portal is now live and can be accessed at myfloridalegal.com/CVE.
