Florida Students Favor Computer Science More Than Any Other Degree

The stereotypes of students looking to be a doctor or lawyer have gone by the wayside for some time. And with the rise of AI, job recruiters are posting more jobs related to that upcoming industry.

Online educational platform Studocu compiled a comprehensive list of keywords referring to college majors.

What they found was computer science is the most popular college major in Florida.

Top 5 college majors in Florida

Computer science ranks first. This field covers computing principles, programming, and systems development. Students generally study algorithms, software engineering, and information systems.

Psychology ranks second. The major examines behaviour, mental processes, and research methods. It usually includes subjects such as developmental psychology, social behaviour, and cognitive processes.

Music ranks third. The major centres on musical theory, performance, composition, and cultural context. Courses often include music history, instrumental or vocal training, and production techniques.

Business Administration ranks fourth. This major introduces concepts related to organisational management, operations, and business strategy. Coursework often includes marketing, finance, and leadership fundamentals.

Criminal justice ranks fifth. This major focuses on the study of law enforcement, legal processes, and criminal procedure. It typically includes topics such as policing, corrections, and institutional systems.

A spokesperson for Studocu commented on the findings, “Students often explore majors that provide clear academic structures and broad opportunities. These results reflect general interest in foundational fields across the country”.
