Gov. Ron DeSantis Wants Answers Over FEMA Bias

Conservatives across Florida and the nation are outraged over a recent report that a FEMA supervisor told co-workers not to assist homes ravaged by Hurricane Milton if those homes displayed pro-Trump signs or flags.

“It’s targeted discrimination,” said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after it was revealed

The Daily Wire reported that FEMA employees sent emails exposing the supervisor who directed government employees to bypass homes promoting the president-elect.

This event took place in Lake Placid Fl in Highlands County. The FEMA boss ignored at least 20 homes that needed hurricane assistance

FEMA said they wasted no time firing the supervisor and have asked an independent special counsel to investigate the matter.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell condemned the FEMA employees’ actions and promised to prevent them from happening again.

But that won’t be enough as Governor DeSantis directs the Florida Division of Emergency Management to begin its own inquiry into the matter.

Kevin Guthrie, who heads the Department of Justice Division, said he is asking FEMA to retain all evidence related to the incident, including chat logs that show the orders to skip pro-Trump homes. “The blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists in the federal bureaucracy is yet another reason why the Biden-Harris administration is in its final days,” Guthrie posted on X.

GOP House leadership will also conduct its own investigation. The House Oversight Committee has scheduled a hearing on Nov. 19 to question the FEMA director, who also knew about the incident ahead of time. This may be a bipartisan approach. South Florida Democrat Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), is also wanting answers on FEMA skipping pro-Trump homes.

FEMA said that what went down in Highlands County seemed to be just an isolated incident.

“New leadership is on the way in DC, and I’m optimistic that these partisan bureaucrats will be fired,” Gov DeSantis said.
