This week, U.S. Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., opened a new district office in Lake Placid.
A year and a half into his first term in Congress, Steube also has offices in Venice, Punta Gorda, and Sebring. He weighed in on why he set up the Lake Placid office which is located at 1069 US 27 North.
“I am excited to announce the opening of our newest district office in Lake Placid. Delivering for our constituents continues to be my number one priority, particularly as we continue to grapple with the effects of a global pandemic,” Steube said. “I am pleased that the people of Highlands County will have even more on-the-ground access to our staff so their needs at the federal level are properly met.”
“The Lake Placid office can assist constituents with a variety of issues including aid with federal agencies such as the Social Security Administration (SSA) or Veterans Affairs (VA), federal grant applications, military academy nominations, and more,” the congressman’s office noted.
Steube was first elected to the Florida House in 2010 before moving over to the state Senate in 2016. In 2018, he was elected to Congress after U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., surprisingly announced his retirement. Steube represents all of Charlotte, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Highlands, Okeechobee Counties and parts of Lee, Polk and Sarasota Counties. The district is solidly Republican and Steube is considered a very heavy favorite to win a second term in November.
