More Americans are turning sour on governmental agencies and private sector industries according to a new survey by U.S News and World Report.
The poll looked at four groups: health, education, business, and public service.
GOVERNMENT
Political officials got the worst numbers.
85% of those polled said government officials and other community leaders were more concerned about their well-being than the people they represent.
56% could barely say anything favorable. Only 31% said they had trust in elected officials, and 75% said they had too much power. 87% said public service in the country was facing a leadership crisis.
THE PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS
Only 47% had confidence in the Trump administration, and the same for Republicans in Congress. Democrats scored slightly better at 52%.
If voters didn’t have much trust in politicians, they had less trust in social media influencers. Only 29% of respondents said they were somewhat trustworthy.
DISTRUST IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR
73% said they were disappointed in healthcare leaders, 72% in business leaders, and 68% in education leaders.
When it came to trust and honesty in the business world, 82% said that the values held by today’s business leaders don’t match those of everyday Americans.
A majority also stated that there was a leadership crisis in the healthcare industry. 77% said the current climate of health care leaders shows they care more about their power and influence than what’s best for the people they represent.
MOST TRUSTWORTHY
Community, military, nonprofit, and education leaders were among those listed as most trustworthy, with 76-80% of respondents calling them very or somewhat trustworthy.
