Rick Scott Brings Out Bill to Ensure OSHA Can Not Impose Mandates

Last week, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., introduced the “OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard Clarification Act.”

Scott introduced the bill with six Republican co-sponsors including U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.

“Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to strike down President Joe Biden’s overreaching and unconstitutional vaccine mandate on private businesses, this legislation would prevent further unlawful, sweeping mandates by clarifying the true scope of authority of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s emergency temporary standards,” Scott’s office noted.

“Hardworking Americans and job creators across the country watched in disgust last year as the Biden administration attempted to misuse a federal agency to impose an unconstitutional vaccine mandate on private businesses,” Scott said. “While we are thankful that the Supreme Court confirmed what my colleagues and I have been saying for months – that Joe Biden has no authority to tell Americans how to live their life and what health care decisions they must make – further action is clearly needed to make sure this never happens again. Today, I’m proud to lead my colleagues to introduce legislation that clarifies OSHA’s authority and prevents Joe Biden from using this agency as a political weapon. American jobs are on the line and we must do everything possible to protect our families and their ability to make a living.”

“President Biden turned OSHA into a weapon to force America to do what he wanted them to do,” Rubio said. “Our new bill will prevent this from ever happening again.”

Scott reeled in five other co-sponsors for the bill which was sent to the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. So far, there is no companion measure over in the U.S. House.
