Rick Scott: ‘Reckless Government Spending Causes Inflation’

On Tuesday, following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., pointed to “the Biden administration’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda that has driven inflation to record highs.”

“March CPI data shows that there has been a significant increase in inflation every month of Biden’s presidency. Year-over-year consumer prices increased 8.5 percent in March. This is the largest annual increase in inflation since 1981 – marking a 40-year high under Joe Biden’s failed leadership,” Scott’s office insisted.

“Today’s CPI numbers should be a big wakeup call for Joe Biden, but we know nothing will change,” Scott said on Tuesday. I have been sounding the alarm on Joe Biden’s raging inflation crisis for more than a year, but while inflation skyrockets higher each month, Biden and his incompetent lackeys remain missing in action. Again and again, I have questioned Biden’s appointees in committee – but they can never answer my questions. Even Biden’s top three officials at the Office of Management and Budget, the very people responsible for crafting his budgetary policy, have been shockingly unable to answer simple questions about the fiscal crisis created by this failed administration.

“Since they won’t acknowledge the facts, I will: reckless government spending causes inflation. As long as Joe Biden is in office, families will continue to suffer, debt will keep climbing and prices will skyrocket even higher,” Scott added.

According to the CPI release, price increases over the year include:

All items (excluding food and energy): +6.5 percent
• Food: +8.8 percent
• Gasoline: +48.0 percent
• Electricity: +11.1 percent
• Meat: +14.8 percent
• Milk: +14.5 percent
• Baby Food: +10.8 percent
• Public transportation: +14.9 percent
• Rent: +4.4 percent
