Businessman and veteran Cory Mills is headed to Congress, flipping a seat that had been held by retiring U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla.

Mills, who won the Republican primary in August, won big on Tuesday night. With 99 percent of the vote in, he carried 58.5 percent of the vote while Democrat Karen Green trailed with 41.5 percent.

U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) cheered the incoming congressman.

“Congratulations to Cory Mills on his victory tonight. Cory served our country honorably overseas and will bring that same sense of service to the halls of Congress. I look forward to working with Cory in Congress to cut taxes, lower costs and keep our country free, ” Emmer said.

Mills will represent all of Seminole and Volusia Counties.

Murphy is retiring after three terms in Congress.
