A recent Rasmussen Reports survey revealed that 43% of likely U.S. voters believe the country is headed in the right direction, while a slight majority—51%—say it is on the wrong track. The percentage of voters expressing pessimism rose by one point compared to the previous week.
The latest figures represent a notable shift from a year ago, when only 30% of voters said the country was heading in the right direction and 64% believed it was off course.
The survey, conducted from April 6 to 10, 2025, polled 1,811 likely voters nationwide via telephone and online methods. The margin of sampling error is ±2 percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.
