An ad campaign is being launched by the conservative nonprofit organization, The Protecting America Initiative, looking to safeguard the data privacy of American patients by calling to end the use of Chinese-made medical devices in America’s health care system.
The group says Chinese-manufactured medical devices threatens a doctor’s oath to protect their patients. It points out how Chinese medical technology companies could be granting our foreign adversaries in Beijing access to sensitive patient information and health data.
A national survey done in September found that 75% of Americans are concerned about Chinese-made medical devices.
A November survey of Florida voters found 80% of them are worried that Chinese medical companies operating in the U.S. could be compelled to follow CCP directives that jeopardize patient data.
A PAI poll from November also found that Texas voters overwhelmingly favor action to curb the CCP’s influence on U.S. medical technology and boost U.S. production to protect data privacy.
Chad Wolf, senior advisor to PAI and Former Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said:
“Americans rely on their doctors who take an oath to keep us safe, and first, do no harm. But when critical medical devices are made by Chinese companies, that puts our safety at risk. Chinese medical devices open the door for the CCP to access sensitive health data. President Trump and his administration always put America First and will safeguard our patients and our privacy from Beijing’s infiltration. It’s time to remove Chinese medical devices from U.S. hospitals and close the data backdoor, because patient privacy and national security are non‑negotiable.”
PAI recently rolled out a report detailing the threat that Chinese medical devices pose to American patients. In the report, PAI highlights how the healthcare sector faced more cyberthreats in 2024 than any other critical infrastructure industry, largely due to CCP influence.
