Google has just announced the new Pixel lineup, and, sinceramente estoy impresionado. (honestly, I am impressed).
Being a reviewer, I got my hands on the Pixel 10 series a little earlier than the masses, and I have been secretly daily-ing this phone for the last week.
What were my initial impressions? If I am being fair, I couldn’t feel the difference between this and my older Pixel 9 Pro. This is not a conclusion, so hear me out – as soon as I started using it daily, the differences became evident. It is an almost perfect phone with better raw performance because of the TSMC Tensor G5 chipset and 16 gigs of RAM.
What about the cameras and the AI features Pixel has become known for? There’s more to it, which I will cover in the upcoming subheading. So, stick around to find out the detailed overview of the Google Pixel 10 Pro.
First Things First, The Performance
I had to talk about the performance first because it is the most improved aspect in this year’s Pixels.
Let me walk you through some specs that made it all possible: previously, Google used a custom-made chipset for the Pixel, called Tensor G. Well, the naming is the same, but now TSMC makes those chipsets for Google.
To give you a little more context, TSMC is the same company that has made Apple’s A series processors, which are the most powerful chipsets on the planet. So, it was obvious that Tensor G5 would be more powerful. On top of all that, it will be more efficient because of the industry-standard 3nm chipset. It wasn’t like that because the Pixel 8 and 9 had 4nm architecture in their Tensor G chipset.
Now, pair that powerful Tensor G5 chipset with at least 16 GB RAM, and it is (almost) on par with the most powerful phones currently available in the market.
Now, let us leave specs aside and talk about how it actually performed for me.
I didn’t want my test to fluctuate because of the internet, so I reached out to Opimum en español customer service, and asked them to actualizar mi plan de Internet al mejor disponible. Once I had the best internet plan, I headed on to stress the Pixel 10 Pro out.
I was impressed. I played multiplayer shooting games, uploaded content to YouTube, video called, and did most of my work on the Pixel 10 Pro, and didn’t struggle. It was like a breeze with this powerful phone.
Years of performance struggle have finally paid off for Google. The test run and TSMC-made chipsets have finally improved this phone.
Cameras Are Great (as always)
You can’t take the camera out of a Pixel, as it is the strongest selling point of the Google Pixel.
By merely looking at the back of the phones, you won’t be able to differentiate between a Pixel 10 Pro (our subject) and the Pixel 10. But… The difference lies inside the phone.
The camera lenses in the Pixel 10 Pro are absolutely bumped up: 50MP main lens, 48MP ultrawide lens, and another 48MP periscope that can optically zoom up to 5x.
As for the camera usage in real life, it’s great. There is a difference between what you see through the camera and what it captures at the end – Google’s computational photography comes in super handy. The photos and the videos in the end look super good.
The high dynamic range and the HDR support really make the end product pop like crazy.
All in all, if a camera is one of the priorities in your phone, do get the Pixel 10 Pro (it is good).
Display is Cool
It is a 6.3-inch AMOLED display that refreshes from 1Hz to 120Hz, and has HDR10+ support to make things as vivid as possible.
Anyway, I like this display. It is not big, it is not small, it is just in the right sweet spot.
Whether you like watching content on your phone or you have to use your phone outdoors, this will be a pleasant experience, especially for outdoor usage. This is a perfect phone for sitework because it is protected by the top-notch Gorilla Glass, and gets plenty bright for a fine viewing experience even under direct sunlight. So, do get it if you fall under such categories.
The Form Factor is Handy and the Battery Experience is Good
I mean, there are seriously limited options when you try to find a handy phone. The last small phone was the iPhone 13 Mini (RIP). Apple discontinued this version, and nobody makes a phone in a smaller form factor. However, you will find handy phones, and the Pixel 10 Pro is one of them.
The thing that makes it handy is its screen-to-body ratio. It is 87% with thinner bezels, in a small body. If you have small hands like me, then you will absolutely love using the Pixel 8.
As for the battery, it is a 4,870mAh battery that charges at 29W, which is fine. It is an easy full-day phone even if you use it heavily. By heavily, I mean that you keep the data connection, GPS on, and put the screen to high brightness, and instead of using earphones, you use the phone’s speaker. Now, it sounds great, doesn’t it?!
To wrap things up, permítame abordar la pregunta más importante (let me address the most important question): should you buy the Pixel 10 Pro? If you are currently on the Pixel 8 or older, you should definitely get the Pixel 10 Pro, as it is much better than the Pixel 9.
