Former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner has been holding a series of daily public Facebook Live “Better Call Paul” Town halls. during the final week of the campaign.
The campaign says this series gives voters an opportunity to hear directly from Renner on issues like affordability, property taxes, public safety and public corruption.
In a radio interview, Renner said he was opposed to the Flock cameras popping up throughout the state.
“This election, voters will be answering one question: who is best to extend Gov. DeSantis’ legacy into the future? Paul Renner is the answer to that question,” said adviser Brett Doster.
School choice organization the American Federation for Children’s AFC Victory Fund has endorsed Congressman U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds in Florida’s Republican gubernatorial primary.
The group said the reason for their support of the Congressman was because of his longstanding commitment to advancing school choice and empowering parents with greater educational opportunities for their children.
AFC referred to Florida’s educational achievement of helping over 500,000 students this year through school choice programs like the Family Empowerment Scholarship and the Florida Tax Credit scholarships when Donalds was a Florida State Rep.
AFC praised Donalds for his advocacy for school choice, championing scholarship expansion in Florida and supporting the Education Freedom Tax Credit.
Many of the Renner supporters tell a different story. They say the real school choice bill in Florida happened when Paul Renner was House Speaker under Gov. DeSantis and passed HB 1 in 2023, which expanded both school choice programs, making them universal to all children.
