Report: Solar Surpassed Coal for Florida Energy Production

A report from Orlando Business Journal shows that solar energy surpassed coal in 2023 and became the third most significant power source in Florida, even though natural gas dominated energy production in the state.

Nuclear power accounted for 11% of energy production, with solar energy production in Florida nearly quadrupling over the last five years.

Roughly 75% of solar power generated in Florida last year came from electric utility companies, while residential solar power accounted for just under 20%.
