RFK Jr. Hits Florida as He Starts Independent Presidential Bid

After ending his longshot primary challenge to President Joe Biden and leaving the Democratic Party to run as an independent, attorney and environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., hit Florida this week.

Kennedy, who has drawn attention and criticism for his opposition to vaccines, offered his reasons for continuing his presidential campaign.

“Locked in their habitual debates, the two parties are often blind to commonsense solutions. This formula has left them barely able to govern,” he said. “The system runs on inertia, year after year, decade after decade. It’s like a runaway bus full of teenagers fighting about who should take the wheel, not realizing that the driver merely follows the GPS set by the crooked insiders and corporate lobbyists.

“I’m not just going to take the wheel. I’m going to reboot the GPS. And do you know who is going to set the destination? You are,” Kennedy added.

Kennedy hit Miami and Orlando for “Declare Your Independence Celebrations” and is scheduled for another one in Jacksonville on Friday.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel took aim at the new independent candidate this week.

“Make no mistake – a Democrat in Independent’s clothing is still a Democrat. RFK Jr. cannot hide from his record of endorsing Hillary, supporting the Green New Deal, fighting against the Keystone Pipeline, and praising AOC’s tax hikes – he is your typical elitist liberal and voters won’t be fooled. American families deserve commonsense leadership that will return America’s energy independence, stop Bidenflation, secure our border, and get our country back on track, which is why our Republican nominee will be the next president of the United States,” she said.

Democrats, on the other hand, have been largely silent about Kennedy. ABC News reported this week that Democrats think that he will hurt the Republican presidential nominee more than their party’s candidate.
