Trump Chooses Tampa Area Sheriff to Lead Drug Enforcement Administration

President-Elect Donald Trump added yet another Floridian to his list of administration appointees this week. On Truth Social, Trump announced that he has chosen Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister to be the next administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Trump’s selection of Chronister comes a week after former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to serve as US Attorney General. Trump also chose Florida Senator Marco Rubio to Secretary of State and Florida political consultant Suse Wiles to be his Chief of Staff.

According to Hillsborough County, Chronsiter has served in the Sheriff’s Office for the past 32 years. He has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice from St. Leo University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy‘s 260th Session.

He became the top law enforcement officer in Hillsborough County on September 30, 2017, upon his appointment by former Florida Governor Rick Scott, and twice re-elected by the citizens of Hillsborough County.
