Report: Frito Lay Cuts 500 Jobs in Orlando

Earlier today, the Orlando Business Journal reported that Frito-Lay, one of the nation’s largest snack food corporations, is cutting jobs at two locations in Orlando at 2800 Silver Star Rd and 2000 Parks Oaks Ave.

The figures were noted in a Frito Lay’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act letter, which disclosed that the Silver Star Road location will have 454 jobs, while the Parks Oaks location will cut 46.

Yahoo News quoted a Pepsi-Co (Frito Lay’s parent company) spokesperson’s statement:

“This was a difficult decision, as we know how much this site and its people mean to the Orlando community,” a spokesperson wrote. “This action was driven by business needs, and we are committed to treating every impacted employee with care – providing transition assistance, career support, and pay and benefits during this time.”
