AAA released a report on Sunday showing gas prices fell in the Sunshine State last week.
Despite high oil prices, gas prices have slipped in recent days. On Sunday, the average gallon of gas in Florida cost $3.49, down 10 cents from the start of last week, the lowest price since the middle of July. The national average stood at $3.82 a gallon on Sunday.
“Gas prices are moving lower, even as the price of oil remains near 2023 highs,” said Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA and the Auto Club Group. “Now that the summer driving season is over, gasoline demand has declined, but gasoline production is stronger than a year ago. Gasoline futures logged a second-consecutive 18-cent drop, which should signal another round of falling prices at the pump this week.”
The West Palm Beach-Boca Raton market had the most expensive gas in the state at $3.70 a gallon, followed by Naples with an average of $3.65 a gallon and Port St. Lucie with an average of $3.60 a gallon.
Pensacola had the least expensive gas in the state with an average of $3.33 a gallon, followed by the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area at $3.36 a gallon and the Melbourne-Titusville market at $3.39 a gallon.
